International Conference on Osteoimmunology: Interactions of the Immune and Skeletal Systemsが開催されました。 (Zhu)
I am a PhD student from the West China School of Stomatology, Sichuan University. I spent one year as a visiting PhD student in the Tsukasaki Lab at Showa Medical University, where I focused on exploring the potential relationship between TIMP1 mutations and tumor bone invasion patterns. During this period, I developed a deeper understanding of the effects of gene mutations. I also became familiar with a range of in silico tools for analyzing genetic variants, including gnomAD, Ensembl, eQTL analysis, AlphaGenome, SpliceAI, and RBPmap. These tools have strengthened my ability to investigate research questions in a more systematic and comprehensive manner. The Tsukasaki Lab maintains a rigorous yet supportive research environment. Prof. Tsukasaki sets high standards for both the lab members and himself, which contributes to the lab’s productivity and academic excellence. His insightful guidance has continuously encouraged me to think more critically and deeply about my research. If someone needs help, discussions can take place at any time, from study design to experimental techniques. One of the most memorable experiences for me was the year-end Bounenkai (忘年会). After everyone reported on their work over the past year, we gathered for a self-made hot pot party to celebrate together. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with lab members from diverse backgrounds in a relaxed setting. In addition, I had the opportunity to present a poster at an academic conference, join a Chinese dumpling party held by the International Exchange Center of Showa Medical University, participate in the memorial service for experimental animals (慰霊祭), and travel to different cities across Japan. These experiences have been highly enriching and have broadened my perspective both academically and culturally. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all members of the Tsukasaki Lab. Their kindness and support made me feel truly welcomed during my time abroad. I truly value the friendships I made here and hope they will last. (Xue Fei)
I am deeply honored and grateful to have been selected for this project under the Japanese Society for Immunology. This opportunity would not have been possible without the dedicated guidance and support of Prof. Tsukasaki, as well as the encouragement and assistance from all the members of our laboratory throughout my research.
My research primarily focuses on questions in osteoimmunology and cancer immunology. Receiving this support is not only a recognition of our previous work, but also further strengthens my determination to continue exploring this field in greater depth.
Over the next three years, I hope to expand my research based on our current work and produce meaningful contributions to the field of immunology. In the future, I look forward to discussing my research and exchanging ideas with leading researchers in the immunology community.(Zhu)
